To view a document file on your screen: If you have Microsoft Word installed, simply click on the document file of your choice. The status bar at the bottom of your screen should begin to fill as Internet Explorer receives the file. This may take several seconds using a modem connection. Once the entire file is received, Microsoft Word will open the document within your current browser session. You may use the "Back" button at the top of your screen to return to the original screen.
If you do not have Microsoft Word installed (but wish to download the file for viewing at another computer): Click on the document file of your choice. A dialogue box will ask you whether you wish to open the file or save the file. Since you do not have Microsoft Word installed, you should save the file by selecting the "Save As" option and saving it to a disk for viewing at a computer that has Microsoft Word. Choosing the "Open File" option may give unpredictable results.
To download a file to a floppy disk or hard disk drive: Right-click on the document file of your choice and select "Save File As..." You can then save the document file to a floppy disk or hard disk drive for later viewing using Microsoft Word.
