Rosenkrantz' Homepage)
During the Winter Quarter of 1998 at Cal Poly Pomona, I was enrolled in one of the most useful courses I think I have ever taken. The class was within the IME (Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering) Department and taught by Professor Rosenkrantz.
The theme of the Winter 1998 Colloquium Series included topics of interest to young engineers about starting and maintaining a solid career.
The following pages were constructed by the instructor, however most of the critique information was authored by the students taking the class. All photography was submitted using my Sony Digital Mavica MVC-FD7 camera. I, along with Samson Chen, wrote the summary of the February 2nd discussion titled, "What a Young Engineer Should Know About ... Career Strategy."
I learned a great deal to better myself as both a young engineer and a person, too! I have a better understanding of my upcoming educational options. I have a clearer picture for what potential employers will look for on paper and in person. I have a good idea for what will be expected on the job. I even said to myself, "Going into business for myself isn't such a bad thought, after all, either!"
Involving students with building the following web pages was a great idea -- it gave extra reason for students to take more time to write a GOOD summary because they KNEW they were going to be published in a public place with their names attached. People anywhere can view the class' pages -- cousins in Oregon, Grandma in Indiana, and friends in Germany. The next goal is to find a way to ensure that each and every student takes the time to LOOK at each other's work placed on the web.
