We offer a relatively new and unique service to the legal community that was previously only available to law enforcement agencies. In any type of litigation or case, where a computer was either used to keep business or personal records or documents, the potential that useful evidence is contained on the computer and that the case can be resolved more quickly is very high.

Sensitive data is frequently password protected or deleted when the potential or actual litigation becomes known. The password protected data can be accessed, the deleted data may be recoverable, and previous drafts or other copies of the sensitive data may be recoverable.

Frequently recovering deleted or formatted data and showing which particular files were deleted or removed is a good indication of culpability or a valuable insight into what the person was trying to do at the time of the deletions.

Determining dates and times of deletion or formatting frequently coincides with actions taken by employers and law enforcement,  i.e. the employee formats his hard disk drive one hour after being accused of selling or using company sensitive data.

Frequently documents are created and are back dated or post dated to conceal the true date of creation or modification.  The authentication of document creation/modification dates and times can frequently be extremely important to your litigation or case.

There are hidden areas, such as cache, swap and temporary files on the computer that may contain sensitive data. There is a very high possibility that this data can be recovered and will be important to your litigation or case.

Some of the areas that we can provide assistance to you are:

  • Civil/criminal fraud cases where memos, letters, spreadsheets or database data is present on the media.
  • In house investigations of theft, conduct, fraud, misuse of funds or equipment, etc.
  • Divorce or other cases where the identification and location of property and assets are at issue.
  • Bankruptcy or other financial cases where  letters, memos, spreadsheets or database data is present on the media.
  • Authenticating dates and times of creation/modification of documents.
  • Sexual, age, or other discrimination cases where letters, memos, or other data have been written or transmitted.
  • Any other case where computers have been used to store data or where you suspect that data has been deleted, hidden or protected from view or access.
Criminal Defense Work:

We do very limited criminal defense work. Each request for criminal defense work will be evaluated on a case by case basis.  In order for us to take a defense case,  we must independently examine the media and draw our own conclusions.  Our examination is subject to disclosure.  We will not question another examiner's work, unless we have independently examined the media and reach a different conclusion.  Additionally, upon agreement of the government, we will make exact copies of the defendant's computer hard disk drive(s) and assist in getting the defendant's computer(s) up and running.
