Orchid #002 :
Oncidium "Tiger Hambuhren 4N X Oda. Mazorka"
Purchased 4/00
at a garden sale in Woodacre, CA. There were about 8 or 9 psuedobulbs evident.
2001:

separate pseudobulbs. First spike appeared approximately 3/25/01. ~20"
tall by 5/5/01. Forking to 2 more spikes by 5/25/01.
These
photos were taken in mid May, when the spike was growing. They show some of
the leaf damage which had occurred during the winter.
Browning had happened during the cooler days of Jan-Feb '01. I began bringing the plant inside when I noticed it.
6/18/01: Has not handled the excessive heat of the past week very well. All but two of the buds which had appeared have dried up and do not look as it they will bloom.
7/5/01:
Split into two plants and repotted into Dyna-Rok medium grade. Root growth
had broken down most of the medium and very little remained. Very robust root
growth. Used the same size pot for each plant, which now fills approximately
3/4's of the pot as oppossed to 4/3'rds. Since blooms had wilted to almost
nothing, I clipped just above first node. Plan to use KLN for the next four
weeks to encourage root growth after the shock of cutting.
The first "part" of the plant is the one which contained the spike.
This will continue to be Orchid #002 (at left in above photo). The second
"part" of this plant will be Orchid #012
(at right).
7/19/01: Some yellowing on older leaves. Moved to top of atrium rack to make sure it was getting enough light. Under shade cloth.
