Hello, and thanks for visiting. I'm Joe McCombs, a guy who plays with words for a living and listens to too much music.
Currently I'm a copy editor for Time magazine. In months past I've written for the Stylus Singles Jukebox, the All Music Guide, Starpolish.com, and The Village Voice, where I was copy chief in the first half of 2007.
I'm a huge fan of the pop, rock, and soul music of the 1960s and 1970s, and indulged this passion with two papers delivered
at the Experience Music Project's annual Pop Conference: "Whoops, I Mean Girl: Toying With Sexuality in Song" and "10 Reasons Why the Monkees Should Be in the Rock & Roll Hall of
Fame." At left, I've provided links to those and to my reviews and other scribblings. Hope you enjoy!
