Personal Information James is a
general practice attorney in Falls Church, Virginia, and a cum laude
graduate of the George
Mason University School of Law. While there he was a columnist for The
Docket, GMUSL’s newspaper, and he is still a columnist for the online magazine Brainwash,
which is published by the America’s
Future Foundation. His op-eds have been published or cited in
the Houston Chronicle, Tampa
Tribune, Insight, USA Today Magazine, and the Central
New York Business Review. He is also the founder of the Constitutionalist
Party, a potential American third party. James used
to work at the Cato Institute, a
libertarian public policy think tank in Washington, D.C. He is
what would best be described as a libertarian constitutionalist, which
means he favors an originalist interpretation of the Constitution and
advocates individual liberty over government authority in most
instances. It’s more nuanced than that, obviously, but this is
just a thumbnail sketch. Among his many hobbies, James plays bass guitar and normal six-string guitar, can play drums with limited ability, and sings. He is a member of the band, Spontaneous Order, which is now back together. We have written and produced several songs, culminating in an EP. More on the way. Speaking of
which, James loves Pink Floyd.
He listens to a wide variety of music, with song favorites ranging from
Howard Jones’ “No
One Is To Blame“ to Primus’ “Welcome
To This World.” While getting his B.S. in Communications at Ohio
University he was a deejay at ACRN,
an all-student new rock radio station. He had a regular blues show
and deejayed hockey games, clubs, weddings, parties, you name it. Other
various and sundry interests: Frisbee golf,
cooking, reading, Southern
Comfort, Blood
Bowl, poker, bridge, John
Updike, Robert Frost,
economics, clove cigarettes, Bloom
County, The Onion, Civilization
III, and Hal
Hartley movies. Memberships:
Civil
Rights Law Journal, Federalist
Society, American Civil Liberties
Union, American Civil Rights Institute,
Institute for Justice, American
Bar Association. He is licensed to practice law in Virginia, and
will soon be licensed in the District of Columbia.
