Economic Policies

The Constitutionalist Party not only supports the reduction of taxation and government involvement in the economy, but also calls for real reduction in the size of the federal government, and not just a reduction in its growth. The United States federal government has become a place of pet projects, corporate welfare, constant fiscal overspending and harmful economic intervention. It has become politically popular to redistribute wealth and support mismanaged industries with the rightful money of the taxpayers, regardless of the detrimental effects that are accrued later.

The Constitutionalist Party advocates the following:

  1. An Amendment to enforce the balancing of the budget.

  2. Simplification of the income tax with a flat tax, a cap on all taxes, the refusal to allow new taxes, the reduction and eventual elimination of property and Capital Gains taxes, the elimination of loopholes and cutting the budget of the IRS by 50% after the institution of the flat tax.

  3. The reduction and eventual elimination of the budgets of numerous unnecessary and unconstitutional government institutions, like the NEA, the Department of Education and so forth.

  4. A return of the federal government to the size provided for under the Constitution. If other programs are deemed to be needed, then the federal government should be made to do what is necessary to amend the Constitution accordingly.
