To those looking for a puppy, my advise is: be patient, do your homework, ask questions, talk to as many breeders as you can, ask questions, talk to owners, and be patient. While it may take a year or more to get a rare breed like a Small Munsterlander Pointer, I believe it may take this long to get a puppy from a good breeding of a more popular breed. I would imagine it would take this long or longer to get a shorthair pup from the Riesers or other top of the line breeder in any breed. Good luck.
We strongly encourage NAVHDA testing for the betterment of this fine breed. Ask the breeder about the dogs he is using for breeding, their parents, and their offspring. To maintain the high quality of the Small Munsterlander, it is absolutely imperative that puppy buyers do their homework and purchase only from breeders that abide by the Small Munsterlander Club of North America, Inc. Code of Ethics and breed only dogs that meet the standards for breeding. By doing this, every puppy purchaser will be doing his/her part to ensure the continued outstanding temperament and health of the Small Munsterlander Pointer. Many first-time Small Munsterlander buyers have been drawn to this breed because of its unequalled reputation regarding temperament, outstanding versatile hunting abilities, and relatively few genetic health disorders. Help us retain these fine qualities in the breed by not creating a market for dogs that may be less than the best.
If you are interested in a Small Munsterlander Pointer puppy, please contact me. I can help you locate a breeder and get on a list for a puppy. Small Munsterlander Pointers are in very high demand, and there is often a wait as most of the reputable breeders only have a litter every year or two or less frequently.
Versatile hunting dogs are meant to be hunted, and make excellent house dogs and family pets. If you are interested in a Small Munsterlander Pointer pup, give me a call. If you would like to contact a Small Munsterlander Pointer breeder directly, recommended breeders are listed on another page or go to the www.smallmunsterlander.org. Please let them know how you heard of them, and please let me know if you get a pup from them.
I will consider posting your Small Munsterlander Pointer or other versatile rare breed puppies and dogs available on this site. Phone or email me if you have my email address me and let me know what you have.
