Gunwood Kennel supports the Small Munsterlander Club of North America, Inc.'s controlled breeding program and Code of Ethics. We are also registered as a Small Munsterlander Pointer breeder with the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA). Our goal is to produce high quality dogs for the foot hunter and family. The "wonderful little bird dog" is becoming increasingly popular in North America, and for good reason. This fine, but rare breed, is known for its outstanding retrieving and tracking abilities, excellent nose, and temperament. The Small Munsterlander Pointer makes an outstanding dog for all upland and waterfowl species. Although its range will vary with individual dogs, it is generally considered a close-working dog, well suited to the foot hunter in a variety of terrain and cover conditions. We are striving to produce world class Small Munsterlander Pointers that will excel in the woods, fields and water, and that will be faithful companions in the home.
Our "A" litter puppies look very good. Only one tested in the fall of 2000 and earned a Prize III at 7 months! Congratulations to Abby and the Burgess'. Five more pups tested in the spring of 2001 and four received a Prize, with Skeaks (aka Ann) receiving a Prize I with a maximum score of 112 points. The litter qualified for both NAVHDA and the Small Munsterlander Club of North America, Inc. Natural Ability Breeder's Awards. Thanks to the responsible owners that dedicated the time and resources to demonstrate the fine abilities of their dogs. Gunwood's "C" Litter Update
Angel had her second litter on April 4, 2003. Please refer to
the "C" Litter page for more
information on this breeding. Six of the pups were tested in NAVHDA Natural
Ability tests. It is one of the two best litters ever tested in NAVHDA NA
testing with an average score of 107.5 points. Five Prize I's (two with maximum
scores), and one Prize II. All were handled by amatures and three were handled
by first time NAVHDA handlers. Max (Gunwood's Chance v Kain) became the
youngest Small Munsterlander to earn a 112 points maximum score Prize I at 6
months and one week in October. Our Cora (Gunwood's Cora v Kain) earned a Prize
I 112 points at 7 months. All the reports we have been getting are very
favorable on this litter.

We strongly support NAVHDA and its testing programs, as well as the Small Munsterlander Club of North America, Inc. and its Code of Ethics, controlled breeding and breed Registry. We will only breed our dogs when we feel we can produce dogs that will benefit the hunter/companion and the breed. To be eligible for breeding, our dogs have achieved a qualifying score in a NAVHDA Natural Ability or higher test, hips have been certified as good or better by the OFA, and the breeding has been approved by the Breed Council of the Small Munsterlander Club of North America, Inc. Beyond these basic requirements, we breed only dogs that we feel have outstanding temperaments, and will produce dogs you can live and hunt with, as we do with our dogs. Purchasing a puppy or adult dog is a big decision and a big commitment. You need to be sure of your decision, and you have every right to expect these high standards from your breeder. Ask questions. Be sure of your decision, and accept a pup only from dogs approved for breeding by the Small Munsterlander Club of North America, Inc.
As a breeder, we need to be sure that our puppies are placed in good homes, will be NAVHDA tested and will be hunted. Please understand our interest in you, and our desire to place our puppies in the best environment possible. If you have selected a Small Munsterlander as your next dog, you have already made a significant choice. Follow through with one of several reputable breeders that will provide you with a good dog from tested lineage.
