-- Cora after Natural Ability Test --
Cora is very much like her mother, Angel, as far as hunting instincts and abilities, has a very nice search, although she doesn't range quite as far. I think the main difference is that Cora is much more biddable. Angel is very stubborn and independent. Cora is more cooperative. Cora received a Natural Ability Prize I with a maximum score of 112 points and has OFA Excellent hips. Cora will soon have her own page, but I haven't gotten it completed. Please refer to the "C Litter" page for more information on her breeding. Cora is brown and white with some ticking. She is very beautiful and very stylish in the field. She is extremely affectionate, like her mother and grand mother, and has a lot of drive in the field, and a very good search. Like nearly all Small Munsterlanders she quarters naturally and covers the field very nicely. She has all of the characteristics moonsters are known for, good nose, strong pointing and retrieving instincts, is an excellant tracker, and quarterns naturally. Getting her ready for the Natural Ability test I was a bit concerned about her tracking because she always did it so fast which is not good, because they will often break into a search. During her test, the pheasant had gone about 5 yards made a right turn and ran about 60 yards. Of course I didn't know this until after the test. I released Cora on the track and she ran out, made a turn and ran to the bird, all in about ten seconds. When she took off running I thought I was going to have a heart attack. NAVHDA Senior Judge Roland Drew told me to relax, she just likes to track fast. She uses the wind and loves water. She has a very good tail that is always carried high, and she checks in to keep in contact with her human hunters. Cora is 20 inches and 36 pounds. She has a very sleek, dense and flat-lying coat.
Barney received a NA Prize I with a
score of 110 and was prepared and handled by our son John who was 12 at the
time. Barney's hips are also OFA Excellent. He has a very typical male Small
Munsterlander personality. He will do anything to please. He is very
affectionate, a bit of a faker if he gets the slightest injury or pain
(although he is not nearly as bad as his father was), and is really a beautiful
and well constructed dog. The SMCNA Breed Council did not have one negative
comment on him and was said to be "a perfect male specimen of the
breed". He has a lot of ability. Barney is 21 and 1/2 inches and weighs
approximately 50 pounds.

-- Barney with John and Tom after competing in the 2004 SMCNA Quail Championship --
We want our pups to go to homes that will be able to test the pups in the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Associateion (NAVHDA) Natural Ability test. We have sent puppies to Alaska, California, Connecticut, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin.
Our pups are whelped in our house and receive much daily attention and human interaction. Our children help see to that chore. We typically place our pups between 9 and 10 weeks, but because we didn't even advertise we had a litter until the pups were 5 weeks old because of my work schedule, we have some left. We expect the pups will live in the house with the family. If your family lives in the kennel, then so too may your dog. We provide information on the dogs including pedigrees, test results and hip certificates on the parents and some of the dogs in the pedigree.
This litter is registered with NAVHDA. We will provide you with health record, registration papers upon receipt from the registry. Your puppy has been wormed and have received the first two sets of shots. We encourage NAVHDA Natural Ability testing. You should test your puppy in a NAVHDA Natural Ability test before it is 16 months of age. A significant amount of training is not necessary, however, you will have to dedicate time to giving the puppy exposure to birds in the field, tracking pheasants, and it will have to have exposure to water and be comfortable swimming. All fun things for you and your dog and a wonderful way to increase the bond between you and your new companion. It is not fair to the individual dog, breeder or the breed to not test these dogs, or to just show up without proper exposure of the puppy. If at any time during the dog's life that you are unable to keep the dog, we ask for the first right of refusal to take the dog back. Our goal is to produce high quality dogs for the foot hunter. We are striving to produce world class Small Munsterlander Pointers that will excel in the woods, fields and water, and that will be faithful and very affectionate companions in the home. If you are interested, please give us a call. Evenings or weekends are best. As I said on the home page, we have discontinued email from this site because of spam and junk mail abuses. Please call.
