What is Karate, and what can it do for me? Karate-do is about more than simple self-defense. Karate-do place
an emphasis on self-discipline, and develops both self-esteem
and confidence. By giving equal weight to mental strength, physical
development, and self-defense, karate-do enhances both mind and
body and is a robust and complete martial art. Moreover, karate is a martial art for all age. Children benefit
especially from the discipline, confidence, and physical training
that karate provides. More mature karate practitioners find that
karate is and excellent way to keep in shape both mentally and
physically, and that the focus and control that karate brings
help equally in academics and in daily life. The physical conditioning
of karate is even more beneficial as time goes on, keeping the
body young and the mind active. Indeed, many of the most respected
members of the karate community are in their golden years, and
enjoy great vitality and an active lifestyle that is the envy
of their peers. What is the Japan Karate-do Ryobu-kai? Japan Karate-do Ryobu-kai is an international organization of
karate schools that focus on teaching the traditional self-defense
art of karate in the style of Shindo Jinen Ryu. This style blends
punching, kicking and blocking techniques with traditional choreographed
exercises, called Kata, intended to demonstrate the practical application of technique.
What are classes like? It has often been said that karate begins and ends with respect,
and nowhere is that more evident than at Japan Karate-Do Ryobu-kai.
Classes begin with an initial show of respect to the instructors
and other students in the class. From there, the students will
be lead through warm up exercises intended to strengthen the body,
make it more flexible, and teach basic technique. After that,
classes cover Kata, the choreographed movements intended to show
how techniques fit together, and sparring and self-defense practice.
Finally, classes end with a cool-down period and a final display
of respect for the instructor and the other students. How much does it cost? Karate is a remarkably inexpensive pastime, and especially so
at Japan Karate-do Ryobu-kai. We do not require long-term contracts,
or large initial start-up fees. Instead, we offer a flexible pricing
structure with discount for additional family members. At Japan Karate-do Ryobu-kai, children are a specialty, and many
world-class karate competitors got their start at Japan Karate-do
as children. Our instructors teach children discipline, respect,
and safe techniques for both self-defense and competition. Many
parents attend the adult classes that follow the children classes,
and share in their children's enjoyment of the art of karate.
We at Japan Karate-do Ryobu-kai believe that karate is a sport
that the whole family can participate in and enjoy. Chief Instructor Kiyoshi Yamazaki Kiyoshi Yamazaki Sensei is the international chief instructor
