sources

Many materials were used in the preparation of this website, including the liner notes (most written by Reich himself) from his ECM and Nonesuch recordings.

Major sources used include:

- the book Minimalists, by K. Robert Schwartz, and published by Phaidon Press, Limited in 1996.

- an interview with Reich which appeared in American Composers: Dialogues on Contemporary Music, edited by Edward Strickland, 1991.

- Reich's own book, Writings About Music, published in 1974 by The Press of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.

- the excellent book included with the "Works: 1965-1995" 10-cd box set.

- the article "Steve Reich: Rhythm & Structure" which appeared in issue no. 47 of Seconds magazine.

- Reich's notes published in the program for the April 7, 1999 performance of Hindenburg at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts, Skokie, IL.

- the article "The Reich Stuff: The Minimalism of Steve Reich" published in the May 1999 issue of CMJ New Music Monthly.

Photographs were taken from the above sources, and also some were borrowed from the Steve Reich Page.

Images of album covers in the Discography were obtained from CDNow.

This website would not be possible without the patronage of Milwaukee's new music ensemble, Present Music.
