Do you have a loved one that you think could benefit from being placed in an assisted computing facility?

Silicon Pines

For family members, it is often the most difficult and painful decision they will face: to accept that a loved one — a parent, a spouse, perhaps a sibling — is technologically impaired and should no longer be allowed to live independently, or come near a computer or electronic device without direct supervision. The time has come to place that loved one into the care of an Assisted Computing Facility. But you have questions. So many questions. We at Silicon Pines want to help.

(thanks to megan for the link ^^ )

If I were a work of art, I would be Claude Monet's Waterlilies.

I am soft and gentle, but very colourful. Although based in reality, I look at the world through a filter of impressions which shape how I see things. Splashes of light help to define my presence and bring an endearing quality.

Which work of art would you be? The Art Test

Thanks Matt! This was a neat test and this is one of my favorate artists and one of my favorate paintings ^^

And the Bad Sex in Fiction Award goes to.... ::drum roll::

Christopher Hart's, Rescue Me

Part of the winning passage from Hart's novel reads:

"Her hand is moving away from my knee and heading north. Heading unnervingly and with a steely will towards the pole ... Ever northward moves her hand, while she smiles languorously at my right ear. And when she reaches the north pole, I think in wonder and terror -- she will surely want to pitch her tent."

Umm.. I'm constantly amazed at some of the garbage that gets published... >.<

So, I've made some changes and additions to the 'Friends' area. Added some new people. Tom, Charles, welcome to the blogaholics anonymous club. ^^ Hi, my name is Jin, and ... ::gasp:: I'm a blogaholic... >.<

I went to go see Monsters Inc. for the 3rd time this Saturday. The difference this time around was that we went to the show at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. Across the street from the newly opened Hollywood and Highland center, new home of the Oscars (which my bf worked on the stuctural engineering for) The theater was gorgeous inside. It made up for all the whining, crying children in the theater. So, after the movie in the beautiful theater everyone shuffles next door to the Monsters Inc. play area. This part of the day I could have done without. It's like a Chuck E Cheese type thing done in the Monster's Inc. theme. Tons of kids running around all over the place. There was a room with a bunch of IMacs and little webcams.. you could take pics of yourself as characters from the movie and email them.. here is me as Sully... and my little sister as Mike. Isn't she cute! ^^ Great fun for kids... I was tired and cranky by then.. i could have used a nap. If you have kids, or little nieces/nefews etc. and are going to be in the area. It's a fun place to take the kids, just remember to wear your sneakers and bring a camera.

I have to brag about the GREAT deal I got today! I got a $319 Snowboarding jacket for $70!!!! It's awesome too! No defects or anything of that sort. It was at Sports Chalet Outlet (in Monclair, CA @ Montclair Plaza) marked down to $139, but they were having a 50% off all apparel AND no sales tax promo Actually, I didn't get the deal, my bf did, it was his Christmas present to me along with some snowboarding gloves to match. Thanks Hon! Yeah yeah.. I know, you're thinking, "Where's the suprise of giving gifts?" Well, it's just easier this way, I'm guaranteed to get something I like and John doesn't have to worry about picking a present. Well I think that's all I have to blog about today! Have a splendorificly wonderful week ya'll! ^^

I know I know ... John posted this link on his site already, but for those who don't read the BRoF religiously.. this is really neat!

Ginger!
"Just lean forward," Kamen commands, so I do, and instantly I start rolling across the concrete right at him. "Now, stop," Kamen says. How? This thing has no brakes. "Just think about stopping." Staring into the middle distance, I conjure an image of a red stop sign--and just like that, Ginger and I come to a halt. "Now think about backing up." Once again, I follow instructions, and soon I glide in reverse to where I started. With a twist of the wrist, I pirouette in place, and no matter which way I lean or how hard, Ginger refuses to let me fall over. What's going on here is all perfectly explicable--the machine is sensing and reacting to subtle shifts in my balance--but for the moment I am slack-jawed, baffled. It was Arthur C. Clarke who famously observed that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." By that standard, Ginger is advanced indeed.

I decided to try one of those darn online quizes... and guess which evil criminal I turned out to be?

Which Evil Criminal are You?
