Ok ok time for a real blog, not another "added so and so to the links section." I bought the Lord of the Rings set this morning at Barnes and Nobles. It's been ages since i've read Lord of the Rings, jr. high in fact. So, I thought it was about time for a refresher before the movie releases. I got a copy of the 3 volumes in one book. (turns out they aren't really 3 volumes originally anyway, just one large book) Does anyone else find it annoying that whenever a book is made into a movie, subsequent editions of that book are printed with images from said movie all over it?!? Like
THIS?? I was looking for a decent paperback set of the series w/o "NOW AN EPIC MOTION PICTURE TRILOGY!!" all over it. I just dislike being told what something/someone in a book looks like, isn't that the whole magic of reading? Alas, the only copies were hardbound and
way more than I was willing to pay. Another annoying thing about paperback books are those fat small ones always fall apart. If you open them too wide, the pages come unglued to hte spine and come loose. Ugh, I hate it when that happens. I finally settled for
this copy. It wasn't too pricy, obnoxious, or cheaply bound. I think it's interesting that amazon has 37 sample pages of the volume that I bought. (the link is to the sample pages) Now to start reading, i'm at the "note on the text" not even to the prologue yet lol... Then there's the forward to go through. I'm in for a long read... ^^
