Windows 98se
Configuration |
| Complete this after all commercial
software is loaded - (nearly 250 pages).
See also Settings. Be sure to copy all setup files from the Windows 98 CD setup directory ( sub-directory, "Win98" ) to the hard disk. Typical hard disk directory is: "C:\CD-Win98". Then do item 11 below to help speed up the frequent system restarts as configuration changes. The CD copy can also be done for each of the software disks used, if hard disk space permits. You may want to look at and use the "Autoexec.bat" and "Config.sys" file ideas in the System (490 bytes) ".zip" file to help restart setups. To open the ".zip" file you will need a decompression utility like "WinZip" which is available for download and trial at http://www.winzip.com/. Another nearly identical program is "PowerArchiver" which is available for download at http://www.powerarchiver.com/. You would typically set up a directory like "C:\My Documents\Download\softwarename\" for saving the downloaded files. Create a file "WWW.txt" in each software sub-directory that has a copy of the URL where you found the software. A typical installation process for WinZip is followed at WinZip install - (16).
