| Send me an E-mail when a web
page changes. Getting tired of
checking a web site over and over, hoping that it will change with new information?
Let your computer check for the change and notify you by E-mail when the change is
made. Cool ! Works best on Broadband or DSL.
This is a THREE step process. After opening your browser (Internet Explorer,
Netscape, etc.):
1. Make the page "Available off-line".
- As you are adding the page to your "Favorites", check the box for "Make
available off-line" in the Add Favorites dialog box. Or, if it is already a
favorite, right click on that link and select the menu item "Make available
off-line".
- A "Synchronizing" box will temporarily appear while your computer is preparing
the file on your disk. Note that this process takes up CPU resources and space on
your Hard Disk, so use this feature cautiously.
2. Change Properties/Download of link to send E-mail.
- Once the link is available off-line, right click on the favorites link to that page and
select the "Properties" menu item.
- A dialog box will appear with tabs for "General", "Web Document",
"Schedule", and "Download".
- Select the "Download" tab and check the box for "When this page changes,
send e-mail to:".
- Verify that the E-mail address is correct and click on OK.
Note that since you are waiting for E-mail, you may
want to place your E-mail program shortcut in your "Start-Up" folder or at least
check it frequently.
3. Set synchronize schedule.
- If you have not already set or wish to change your
schedule for checking for updates, right click on the favorites link to that page and
select the "Properties" menu item.
- A dialog box will appear with tabs for "General", "Web Document",
"Schedule", and "Download".
- Select the "Schedule" tab and click on the "Using the following
schedules" radial button.
- Select the schedule desired or add a new schedule
and "Edit" as needed.
- It is best to schedule the task on startup or during
idle time.
