Internet Explorer
verion 5.50.4807.2300 may be customized for many types of uses. The following are
some examples of customizing which I recommend that you explore to find what works best
for you. You do not need dial-up icons on your desktop since both your E-mail and
Browser programs will be set to dial your default.
- Click on "Tools" / "Internet
Options . . ."
- General tab -- Set Home Page by
clicking on "Use Blank". This will provide for the most rapid start-up.
- For convenience, you may want to use you Favorites
as your home (start-up) page.
- File / Import and Export . . .
- Next
- Export Favorites / Next
- Favorites / Next
- "C:\My Documents\bookmark.htm"
- Next / Yes (asked only if already exists)
- Finish / OK
- Click on the "Address" bar in IE and type
"C:\My Documents\bookmark.htm" and depress <enter>.
- Click on Tools / Internet options / General / Use
Current
- Your favorite URL's will display on IE start-up.
- After seeing the results, you may want to clean up
or reorganize your favorites and repeat the "Export" process.
- For long lists, it works best if you have everything
in folders and export them separately.
- You may want to write your own start-up web page.
