OUTLOOK EXPRESS - The steps below
will guide you through configuring Outlook Express 5 for EarthLink. See also the Outlook Express Set-Up and Outlook
Efficiency pages:
- Open Outlook Express.
- From the "Tools" dropdown menu, choose
"Accounts".
- Click on the "Mail" tab.
- Click the "Add" button.
- Select "Mail" in the list.
- In the Display name field, type your name like
"John Smith".
- Click the Next button.
- Select "I already have an e-mail address that
I'd like to use".
- In the "E-mail address" field, type your
full email address like "jsmith@earthlink.net".
- Click the "Next" button.
- Click the down arrow on the "My incoming mail
server is a..." drop-down list and choose POP3.
- In the "Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP)
server" field, type in your POP Server name. -- "pop.earthlink.net"

- In the "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server"
field, type in your SMTP Server name. -- "smtp.earthlink.net"

- Click the Next button.
- In the "Account name" field, type your
mailboxname (your FULL E-mail address like "jsmith@earthlink.net").
- In the "Password" field, type your
password (use lower case ONLY) just ***'s will show.
- Check the box next to "Remember password"
if you want to save your password. Do NOT select Secure Password Authentication (SPA).
- Click the "Next" button.
- Click the "Finish" button.
- Click the "Close" button.
