Y2K -
Myth or Reality

On Friday, December 31, 1999, we will, as a nation,
be celebrating not only the end of a very successful year, but also the end of a decade of
financial prosperity, the end of a century of technology revolution, and the end of a
millennium of human relations.
The celebration will not be one of only waving
flags and blowing horns to welcome in the new year. It will also be one of fear of
what might be and repercussion over what should have been. Those who do not have
faith in God and in mankind will attempt to bring true the predictions that services will
end, goods will be unavailable, mass confusion will prevail, and society will breakdown.
They will take the opportunity to riot, to ruin, and to run in fear that a lack of
faith has built.
"Be Prepared!" cry the predictors,
"For the world will not be as we expect". That in itself is an oxymoron.
The computer has been blamed as the cause for the
"Y2K problem", but WE have created the computer, WE can choose to restore its
faulty logic, and WE can get on with the next day, the next year, the next decade, the
next century, ... for it is but a binary device. But where is the flaw?
As we cower in anticipation, WE are expecting THEM
to do all the doing, WE are not creating Godly family units, WE are not restoring our
faulty logic, WE are not prepared to have faith in mankind, and We have not given
ourselves to God to do His will. We instead expect man's creations, both mechanical
and human, to fail us. Computers will do as instructed by man, but man will choose
to sin if God is not in his life.
On Friday, December 31, 1999, let us celebrate the
end of confusion, a new direction in our lives for we see God in our future, the wonderful
things that God has done, is doing, and will do. Let us come together for the
purpose of drawing families into Godly units, repairing our faulty logic, and thanking God
for being there. For this is the beginning of a new year and
not the end. |
