A boy at home was clean and neat,
A gentleman from head to feet.
But when upon his holiday
He went out on a farm to stay.

He didn't always comb his hair,
Nor think his finger-nails to pare.
To shine his shoes he quite forgot;
He never thought to clean a spot.

His toothbrush withered on the wall;
He never brushed his clothes at all.
His ears, behind grew very black.
The farm did not invite him back.
