I Still Believe

A church member wrote to the editor of a Christian magazine and said, "In his sermon Sunday, my pastor preached that Jesus did not really die on the cross, but He just swooned, fainted, and went into a coma.

Then when the soldiers got him off the cross and into that tomb, the cool air revived Him and He got up and escaped.  What do you think I should say to him in response to such teaching?"

The Magazine editor replied, "Dear Church Member, take your pastor out and beat him with a cat of nine tails until his back is as raw as hamburger meat.  Place a sharp crown of thorns down into his head until it pierces his skull.  Then strip him and put a 150 pound piece of wood on his back and lead him up a rugged hillside.  Then nail his hands and feet to the piece of wood, and let him hang on it out in the hot sun for about six hours, and see if he SWOONS or DIES!!

In this modern age of "user friendly" theology, my friends, I make no apology that I STILL BELIEVE in the fundamentals of the Word of God!!

I STILL BELIEVE that the miracles of the Bible are true.  I believe that the whale really swallowed Jonah because the Bible said it did, and if the Bible had of said Jonah swallowed the whale I would have believed that too! - Jonah 1:17 - "But the LORD provided a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was inside the fish three days and three nights."

I STILL BELIEVE that God created the heavens and the earth in six literal 24 hour days. Genesis 1  You would have to be foolish to believe the fairy tale of evolution, which says, "Once I was a tadpole when I began to begin, then I was a frog with my tail tucked in, then I was a monkey flying through the trees, and now I'm a professor with a Ph.D..".

I STILL BELIEVE "In the Beginning, God!" - Genesis 1:1 - "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

I STILL BELIEVE that Jesus was born of a V-I-R-G-I-N, that He literally bodily walked the shores of Galilee, that He healed the lame, raised the dead, and caused the blind to see. - Luke 1:26-28 - "In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David.  The virgin's name was Mary.  The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you." "

I STILL BELIEVE that He went to a hill called Golgotha and laid down His life willingly for the sins of man, and yes, I believe that he DIED on that cross. - John 19:16-18 - "Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. So the soldiers took charge of Jesus.  Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha).  Here they crucified him, and with him two others--one on each side and Jesus in the middle."

I STILL BELIEVE that in three days He literally, bodily walked out of the tomb before day break victorious over death, hell and the grave. - Luke 24:1-6

I STILL BELIEVE that He ascended back to Heaven and sat down on the Right hand of the Father, and I STILL BELIEVE that the same blood that was shed 2,000 years ago on that old rugged cross is still the payment for man's sins today. - Mark 16:19 - "After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God."

And I STILL BELIEVE that one day soon He is going to literally, bodily step down from that throne and return to receive His Bride, The Blood Washed throng of Believers. - see where you find this and Believe  Yes, my friend, the scoffers and doubters may turn up their noses in disgust at this old time religion but I STILL BELIEVE!
