Now for the fun part.  Genealogy web sites are so easy to create now, that everyone can make them.  You have already done the work by generating a GEDCOM file (do it without privatizing and include all notes and sources - make the destination PAF version 5.5 for ease in sharing).  The reason for this complete file is that it is now your back-up copy of all your hard work and will be stored on another computer for safety in a place only you can get or see.  You are just 4 steps (clicks) away from genealogy "On-Line" status.  Using the RootsWeb "WorldConnect" server as an example, you:
  1. Start your site by thinking of a short ID (it must be at least 3 characters) and click on http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igmuser.cgi to request the site ID (User Code) and give it a password.  Save the above address in your favorites as your login place.
  2. Click on the "Standard" button, enter your name and E-mail address, and click on the "Setup" button.
  3. Give the page a short title in field 4) like "Duff and George Make History" and click the "Browse" button in field 9) to point to your GEDCOM file on your computer.
  4. Click on the "Upload/Update" button at the bottom of the table to start your page.  It will retreive and store your GEDCOM, process the living privacy, and display a page showing that it is done.  Click on the "go there now" phrase and you will see your genealogy home page.  Save that address in your favorites.  You can create as many of these as you need.

You can return to setting the many options by clicking on the address saved in step 1., using your ID and password, and clicking on the "Advanced" button.  Here are the settings that I use for each of the numbered fields:

You can also have your own Home Page Web Site on the RootsWeb system for web pages that you write.  These require a bit more effort and a web page editor, but are very rewarding.  If you would like some help, please contact me at the address below.
