On 05Aug2004, coworkers and friends in Southern California gathered at Dan Gurney's All American Racers in Santa Ana to remember Jimmy and his accomplishments.

Jimmy Bear by Sherri and Kat.    Jimmy wrote "To Loud For Dan Gurney" on the Alligator muffler, and asked, "Isn't that an oxymoron?"

Jeanne Caliva said:    It was fun and yet sad. I have seen Dan speak at several events and he always had away to bring a laugh with some funny story but not this time. He said some words in tribute but it was obviously very difficult. I think all throats were choked with sadness. Then Jimmy Gurney got up to shared a few stories and finally laughter broke with a huge relief of tension. Dan had Kathy read a great heartfelt letter from Juan Fangio. Several others followed with great stories.    One thing somebody said at the service was so cute......Jimmy went before all of us so he could make sure the pearly gates would open without squeaking for us. That brought a smile.
