Welcome. This site serves primarily as an online portfolio of my
design work but should also present a snapshot of my university
teaching and administrative career.
My scene and lighting designs have been seen at such theatres as Theatre Virginia, Arkansas Rep, Florida Rep, Charlotte Rep, Playhouse on the Square, Florida Stage, Drury Lane Theatre, Heritage Rep, the Flat Rock Playhouse, Veggie Tales Live National Tour, Wall Street Danceworks and others. Recent designs include the lighting design for The Lost Colony and the scene design for Thoroughly Modern Millie at Phoenix Theatre in Arizona that was awarded my second consecutive AriZoni Award for Excellence in Scene Design. I am a member of the national designers union, United Scenic Artist, Local 829 in scene and lighting design.
I currently serve as Chair and Artistic Director for the Department of Theatre
and Dance at the University of South Carolina. The department produces four main stage theatre productions, five main stage dance concerts, six lab theatre productions, two lab dance productions, a touring school show, and numerous university cultural events each season.
I teach design courses in addition to serving as Chair. My teaching currently rotates through graduate courses in Lighting Design, Scene Design, and Computer Assisted Design for the Theatre and an undergraduate course in Lighting Design. In addition, I supervise the MFA Lighting Design program. Recent national service activities include the Commission for Accreditation with the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) and as a mentor for the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) - Leadership Institute.
Our department exists to transform lives through excellence in theatre and dance teaching, performance, creative activities,
research, scholarship, and service. The department's success is made possible by
the creative drive of our students guided by an accomplished faculty and staff.
