Property & Homestead Photographs
In the late 1930's, New York City's Department of Taxation photographed all of the taxable properties within the five Boroughs of the City. The New York City Municipal Archives has these photographs on microfilm, and I can assist you in getting a copy of an image of your ancestor's homestead.
In addition, the New York Public Library has an extensive collection of photographs of the blocks and properties within New York City which were taken over the past hundred years. These are not the same photographs that the City's Department of Taxation commissioned. I can assist you in finding a copy of one of these photographs, too.
Lastly, I will photograph any property in the City in which your ancestors may have lived. I have taken many photographs of existing homes which have stood the test of time and are still in use today. Contact me for more details on this service.
