The life, thoughts, and dreams of a teddy bear with attitude

Tuesday, March 28, 2006
Goodness, it's been a while.

I have received a panic message from little sis:

I need your hel[p! I am at my new bed and there are beasts here. They are big. One of them put me in it's mouth and took me off the bed. Noe I've been slobbered oln. What do i do? Can you blog me your answer? I miss you. The big beasts are furry and huge. They ahve big teeth.

I miss you. I'm not sure if I like this bed.

Smartie, it will be okay. We will hug you when you get home. Even Spot and Smoke look like scary beasts when you don't know them.

It's me, Brownie, special guest blogger. 'Cause my brother's lazy.

Daddy made me a latte this morning. We slept in pretty late. Nice.

The house project is slooowly drawing to a conclusion. Mommy and Daddy are sick of it. But it sure looks nice.

Today is Smoke's birthday! He's 1. Tomorrow is Spot's. He'll be 1 too.

Mommy and Daddy are getting thoroughly sick of the latest home improvement project. Nestle has already quit supervising.

The kitties are almost 1 year old! The crunchy food is now 60% kitten, 40% cat (Mommy mixed it). They are trying canned cat food for their evening treat. The verdict so far:

turkey and giblets = yum!
beef and liver = yum!

Nice to have a long weekend. Daddy can't even think about going back to work yet.

Whee! Daddy is home. It's Wednesday. He said if he didn't take a day off he was going to melt down.

So he slept in a couple of hours late (hugging me, on my bed) and then got up and shared some coffee. No latte though.

Speaking of melting down, he went outside and mowed the front lawn because he said it was starting to look like Saskatchewan. But greener. It's past the time of year when he can leave it for more than a week, and he was working on the bathroom all weekend.

Today he finishes the tile in there. Then it's grouting later.

Me? Nap!

Daddy is in a fine mood. He is fretting about getting the glue off the bathroom floor (ex-linoleum) in time for tiling on Saturday. He has a blister on one thumb, his left hand is partially numb, and he cut a big gash in his leg.

Brownie fainted.

Strange days indeed. Mommy & Daddy are sleeping in the guest room while the master bedroom and bathroom upgrades are in progress. I'm sharing the bed. Daddy hugs me.

Happy New Year!

Yes, I'm back. Quit your whining, all of you. A bear makes his own schedule.

To summarize the last few months: house renovations, dancing grandma not coming, kittens are crazy, it's MY bed, new truck.

Daddy just did an online survey. He had to tick the 35-54 age box.

Ick.

Daddy is having a hard time getting started. Cleaning the garage that is. It just doesn't feel like today is the right day for it. The planets are not correctly aligned.

If you ask me, Daddy's full of it. But lazy is respected by all bears, me included.

Last night was a funny night. Mommy & Daddy were in bed reading and they heard the sound of a dresser drawer opening. They sat up and watched Spot climb into Daddy's second-from-the-bottom drawer. He looked very cute. He started to dig himself a comfy spot among the T-shirts. Then Smoke nonchalantly sauntered over, got up on his hind paws, and slowly slid the drawer shut. Trapping Spot.

Following much laughter, Daddy rescued the younger kitty and told Smoke he was very mean. And very cute.

This morning there was a typical love-fest from Smoke in the early morning. Apparently.

I say "apparently" since I have been banished from my own bed. It's "not my turn".

It's been a good holiday so far for Daddy, even though he has had work intrude upon him a little. But he's not too worried. They can take care of things without him. (If not, he needs a raise.)

So right now we are surfing the net and avoiding the chores.

I hope Mommy's job interview goes well today.

Kitties got kissing reindeer (moose) for christmas. Smoke is especially excited. Keeps playing with Mrs. Moose.

It snowed here!

Well, that's another christmas come and gone. I got some chocolate: good. No Toffifee: bad. But I'll live.

Mommy & Daddy have been getting up too early in the morning. The kitties wake them up. But I can't drag my tush out of bed for a latte at such ridiculous hours. I mean, sometimes they are up at 8 or 9! What's a bear to do?

Some good presents all around. Daddy got a new coffee grinder, which makes latte easier. Yay! Mommy got a printer/scanner/copier. There were books as well, and CDs, and DVDs. Gotta watch LOTR: Return of the King today.

After the kitty bathing. That should be fun. I'll stand by for first aid.

Chomp, chomp, chomp. Not here! The termite treatment is done for another year.

Daddy and Mommy are home today. Stuff to do, but kind of a day off. From work anyway.

The kitties are wreaking their usual mayhem. Smoke is developing a hatred of all inanimate object made of real or fake fur. Including a Santa hat that he cannot resist. He took down a plant yesterday. From the top of the entertainment center.

Spot is cute, but also evil. He's the brains.

We are all doomed!

Well, Mommy is working and Daddy is home drinking some icky stuff called scotch. It is some unpronounceable scottish brew.

They apparently got their green cards approved this week. They are very excited. I thought they hadn't started sending the christmas cards at all yet.

Oh my, those kitties are bad!!

Smoke, AKA Catservant Hecubus, is a climber. Sofa, curtains, entertainment center, you name it. One maniacal gurgle and he's off.

Spot, the softest kitty in the world, feigns innoocence.

They started stealing a bear (not one of us Pudgies, thankfully!) and have progressed to the kissing moose (reindeer, actually). Daddy had to hang them out of reach.

It's so crazy here!!!
