Rearing Fry

Feed Live Baby Brine Shrimp – A Must !

The first 30 days is the most critical for the development and growth of the fry.  Keep the water temperature at 78 degrees.   In the rapid growth stage in the fry’s first 45 days I feed live baby brine shrimp(BBS) twice a day.   At about 6 weeks I move the fry from a 2 ½ gallon to a 10 or 20 gallon tank where they will grow to adult size.

I recommend high quality flake food (ground up fine-45% minimum protein) to be introduced at about the same time I move the fish to the larger tanks.  Water changes of 50% are crucial to the health and growth of the fry.
