05/14/04 - 05/16/04
(Summary By Ryan G.)
We left on Friday to leave for the island. We left the Presbyterian Church and made great time to the lake. We
needed to get there before dark so we could find the way to camp. We unloaded our trailer and hurried and ate dinner. Our
pontoon boat arrived and we loaded gear. After the gear was taken all of the guys got taken over too. We hurried to our campsite
and pitched our tents in the half-dark. We turned on the generator to light the kitchen and we popped some popcorn. We talked
and finally went to bed. The next morning we woke up and ate breakfast. After breakfast we organized a great game of capture
the flag. Everyone played and it lasted for about 2 and a half hours. We all had a great time. When we finished lunch was
ready. After lunch we played some patrol games and had some free time. When the games were over we all took the boat back
to the dock and went swimming. There was a little area roped off and was really fun to play in. We played for a couple of
hours and went back to camp to make dinner. After dinner we had our campfire like always. We introduced the new scouts and
had skits. Also we retired (burned) 3 United States flags and had a great time. After the campfire we roasted marshmallows
and had some free time. We then ate some cobbler and brownies (made by the leaders). After we ate we sadly went to bed but
soon found out we were exhausted. When we woke up we had breakfast and cleaned up our campsite. We had to take the boat back
to the dock and repacked the trailer. We had a church service after that and left for home. On the way home we stopped to
eat and went back to the church. We unloaded the trailer and went to our homes. Over all I thought that the Buggs Island camping
trip was a lot of fun.
