Neo Motion Pictures

Producer Joel Soisson (BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE) formed NEO MOTION PICTURES in 1990 with W.K. Border (V.P. Creative Affairs) and Michael Leahy (Head of Production). In the ensuing seven years, NEO has developed and produced over a dozen feature films. A long term collaboratiion with Producer Don Phillips (FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH, INDIAN RUNNER) has added to the depth of writers, directors and cast that form the spine of our upcoming productions.

Fall 1995 saw the release of THE PROPHECY, the highest grossing Miramax film of the year, directed by Gregory Spence (writer of BACKDRAFT and HIGHLANDER). FIST OF THE NORTH STAR (based on the popular comic book) premiered on HBO in February of 1996.

Under NEO's multi-picture pact with FIRST LOOK PICTURES are the features INFINITY, starring Matthew Broderick and Patricia Arquette; DRIVE, with Mark Dacoscas and Kadeem Hardison; NO WAY BACK, starring Russell Crowe, Helen Slater and Michael Lerner, and SLAVES TO THE UNDERGROUND, which competed at last year's Sundance Film Festival.

In 1992, NEO created the AMERICAN YAKUZA series with Japanese partner OZLA PICTURES and director Frank Cappello. The fourth installment, BACK TO BACK, premiered on HBO in 1996. The series stars Viggo Mortensen, Russell Crowe, Bobcat Goldthwait, Virginia Madsen and Michael Rooker. The fifth installment, COUNTDOWN, starring Lori Petty, Jason London and James LeGros was recently shown at the Tokyo Film Festival in Japan.

Other features under the NEO banner include MANIAC COP III, LOWER LEVEL, KANGAROO MAN, and BLUE DESERT starring Craig Sheffer, D.B. Sweeney and Courtney Cox; LEPERS, starring Samanth Mathis and Joseph Gordon Levitt, directed by Joe Gayton (writer of BULLETPROOF); and TREKKIES - a documentary about the Star Trek fan phenomenon.

For the Dimension Films branch of Miramax, NEO has recently completed PROPHECY II, starring Christopher Walken; and PHANTOMS, adapted by Dean Koontz from his best-selling novel, directed by Joe Chappelle.

NEO has also provided production services on numerous other features including MARKED FOR DEATH and HELLRAISER IV..

Currently in production is PROPHECY III: THE ASCENT, the third film of the popular series, starring Christopher Walken.

Since 1994, NEO has added a two-bay AVID Editorial System and a state-of-the-art CGI Effects Division to provide additional cost and creative controls for our independent film ventures.
