Maryville Lions Programs:

Operation Kidsight- Eye screening for preschool children (12 to 72 months old).

Free Eyeglasses - For people who cannot afford them.

Eye Glass Recycling - Collection of used eyeglasses for reuse.

Lion Quest - a complete study program for youth on Drug and Alcohol Prevention, Character Education, Social and Emotional Learning and Service Learning.

Remote Area Medical Volunteer Corps(Ram) - is a non-profit, volunteer, airborne relief corps dedicated to serving mankind by providing free health care, dental care, eye care, veterinary services, and technical and educational assistance to people in remote areas of the United States and the world. Lions participate in this organization's activities.

Maryville Lion President Ron Hultgren presents Letter of Appreciation to the owners of Michael's Hair Styling Salon for their many years of support to our Club

In 2006-2007 fiscal year the Maryville Lions Club accomplished the following:

  • provided free photoscreening for over 2600 children in Blount County and $5000 toward the purchase of a new Suresite screener.
  • purchased over $7000 worth of eyeglasses and eye exams for low income Blount County people.
  • collected over 10,000 pairs of used eyeglasses for recycling.
  • donated over $7500 to White Cane Charities and Sightfirst II.
  • supported Remote Area Medical clinics.
  • donated over 850 Maryville Lions hours on Service projects.
  • Held three very successful fundraisers- pecan sales; white cane; golf tournament.
  • participated in many, many other Lions related activities.

  Lion Gwen Holt and Lion Tom Miller are the Melvin Jones Award Recipients with Club President Ron Hultgren in the center
  Maryville Lions Support Remote Area Medical Clinic in Blount County
  The Maryville Lions Club supported the efforts of Remote Area Medical(RAM). Ram provided a free dental and eye clinic for people in Blount County without health insurance. Maryville Lions provide support in traffic control and the eye clinic.

  Lions Gwen Holt, Elaine McGinley, Gloria and Jon Joel provided eye screening to the students at the Maryville Middle School. Over the two day period, over 350 students were screened.
