For some of you, it is known I've been considering and pursuing international adoption for the past 6 months or so....for others of you, this may be the first you've heard about it. At any rate, I'm asking for your prayers tonight and over the next week.  My life path and prayer journey have lead me to consider motherhood through international adoption in China.  China has a wonderful adoption program, however it's government only allows 8% of all adoptions to be to single people. (that would be me!) I have completed pre-applications with two agencies to try and adopt in 2005.  (I'm not getting any younger you know...)  And, I'm on a two and half year waiting list with a third agency.

 

The pre-application is an application to apply - and start the official adoption process.  For single people, this is a big deal since 3x-4x more people submit pre-applications than an agency has slots for in their 8% allotment. One of the agencies, Great Wall - based out of Austin Texas - will be calling people they've selected to submit full applications TOMORROW - Thursday, December 30, 2004!  The other agency - Children's Home Society - will be drawing names out of a hat (yes, literally out of a hat) on January 6, 2005 and contacting people soon there after.

 

I feel a strong call to share my life through motherhood and would feel greatly blessed to have this opportunity come my way.  For now, it is all in God's hands, and  as a person of faith, I believe that He will open the door for the opportunity that is right for me.  (In the mean time, I'm hoping you all can put in a good word or two for me in your daily communication with the One above!) :)
