The flight path taking off has been coming closer and closer over our heads LA residents (due South) Not going straight out over Ocean Park (SM residents) This has got to stop- I cannot breath on windy days and the jet fumes are a health issue SM and the FAA do nothing !

More and more jets are taking off-more and more flight school take-offs and landings-'IT IS GETTING WORSE!

The airport serves the rich and not the masses- Why must we suffer?

Description: Wow what a difference -The one week when the airport was closed to re-pave it was the best week ever-The quiet and peaceful neighborhood-This shows how it should be at all times-I felt so calm and at peace- amazing how the planes just make me sick and nervous with the noise and pollution-My daughter could study and not be distracted by the intense JET Noise- I could actually carry on a conversation and sleep better at night without the constant barrage of Noise- I sure hope they close this thing in 2015 Or at lease stop the jets and decrease the prop planes traffic-

I just got off work early this Friday and I can hardly stand being at home-There has been 9 Loud Prop planes and 6 Jets TAKING OFF from 4-5PM That is one hour !

This has got to stop -It is not just Friday anymore but ALL week long- The noise is so loud and I can no longer talk on the phone or watch TV without constant volume control and saying "what"

There HAS been a big increase in airplane traffic in the past few years-this really makes living here a nightmare- There is an onslaught of air traffic- I could write to you everyday about this problem- Oh and now they are flying south into Venice/La residents !!!

Description: The increase in jet and prop planes is unbearable- We can no longer sit outside and enjoy our week-ends without a plane flying over to hinder our conversations-and the toxic crap that comes down- I can no longer work from home due to the noise from these planes- The flight path from SMO is over us here in LA not in SMO- The LAX planes fly right over head-as well- SO we get both air noise and pollution- The planes do not stay over Santa Monica but keep coming over Mar Vista /Venice people- Next step is to demand new windows and doors like they had to do in Burbank Airport-to keep out the noise and pollution

Description: The constant barrage of jets and prop planes makes me sick, We cannot breath here, We shut our windows and this does not help!

We have our lawn furniture and veggie garden covered in soot and toxic stuff from the planes, it is gross I also noticed they are flying closer to the LA residents and not over SM- I have called the airport and submitted many complaints to the airport many times-Deaf ears !

I could call in daily and submit complaints daily- My health issues are at risk and this is not a good place to live anymore due to the airport increase and their careless about the pollution attitudes!

Again the noise was so loud & when I went outside I saw the small jet flying quite low directly over my neighbors going from west to east.

If we had an air tester here in this home right now they would probably make us leave the home for to toxic gases, this is so down right idiotic to have this going on in this environment city

The Jet has finally left. The smell of raw jet fuel is thru out the house. The clothes I am wearing smell of fuel, while I was outside calling the police about this jet. Who owns that jet? That was abuse in all forms to being doing this to our air we breathe. And the sound of this large jet was unacceptable. My eyes burn from this toxic fuel left in our air! How can this be okay? This size of jet should have been at LA airport.

Description: On Tuesday, the day after Labor Day, I was awakened by the roar of a jet flying just several hundred feet above my house at 7:13 am. It was immediately followed by a plane, and the 3 more planes at 7:36, 7:38, and 7:46. Then another jet at 7:58, and more planes at 8:46, 8:50, 9:00, 9:05, 9:17, 9:21, 9:25 (well, you get the picture). The level of noise generated by the jets and prop planes makes it almost impossible to watch TV (I have to hit the "pause" button and wait for the plane to pass before resuming watching) or have a conversation with my neighbors. We can't hear each other talk when the aircraft flies above. This constant onslaught of noise is almost laughable in an area of million dollar homes and beach living. The truth is, we don't really live in a democracy. We can complain all we want, but the politicians and corporate interests will continue to do what they want.

We arrived at the UnUrban a couple of minutes later and the air smelled exactly the same there, too. Who knows how far the fumes travel?

We should encourage residents who live farther from the airport to report fumes as well.

FUMES TAKE ABOUT 1-5 MINUTES TO TRAVEL HERE BEFORE JETS TAKE OFF. THE 1 MINUTE FUME BLASTS I AM GUESSING ARE RELATED TO POSITIONING RIGHT BEFORE TAKEOFF. WOULD HAVE TO OBSERVE THE JETS ON THE TARMAC TO BE MORE CERTAIN.

Description: Hello,

Several times through out the day, I smell really strong jet fuel fumes in my back yard, in the alley and the large street of Barrington 40 feet radius around my apartment. The fumes enter my home and travel throughout the whole apartment. At this point I get so mad as I have no where to go to get some fresh air. Some times the fumes saturate inside my garage and when I open the door I get really nauseous from the smell. It irritates my nose and throat everyday, and i am really concerned for my health as I am considering being pregnant in 2008. I am going to start writing down dates and times when I am bothered by the smell/noise. The noise is also a big nuisance, a jet can take 30 minutes to leave and the constant sound and loudness is really irritating. Description: OK I am onto something. Starting to notice a pattern of the way that the fumes travel on the northeast area above the airport.

At 10:25 pm I smelled fumes.

At 10:27 pm I heard a jet take off.

It must be when they are turning around at the end of the runway before it takes off that shoots the fumes this way. Gives us some idea of the rate of travel depending upon the direction that the tail is pointing.

Monday night a big jet came in low and loud just before midnight. Woke us up. Awhile back, I was told that the reason there can't be a curfew on incoming aircraft is because in an emergency a plane might have to land at SMO. It seems to me that very few curfew violations happen because of an emergency. Planes violate the curfew because it is convenient for them. It would appear that any fine or warning means little or nothing to the privileged folks who choose to disturb whole neighborhoods with their late night arrivals. They must feel very important! Nothing wrong with that, except that everyone else is very important too.

Description: During the above mentioned times a number of aircraft leaving Santa Monica flew above my home or turned north just before reaching my home. The planes that flew above my home the turned northward just above my home. I understand the planes are supposed to reach the ocean before making turns. The noise and fumes made me close my doors in order to be able to hear my family talk and certainly to avoid the fumes. Most of the aircraft that made these north turns over our home did so between 8:45 and 9:30.

I watched it hover practically over my neighbors home in the middle of 32nd Street and then go in for a landing and then circle back around to somewhere around 31st Street for a little variety, then it would shift back and forth between 31st and 32nd presumably to spread around the burden. It is still hovering. I noticed that they don’t log these arrivals and departures on the flight tracker. I will investigate why or why not.

At 4:29 while I was on the phone with you, there were 11 planes flying over the airport for a memorial event.

Everyone's eyes are burning -- had to wash one son's eyes out with saline because they were tearing. This is absolutely outrageous. These fumes are poisoning us and our kids.

Each day jets took off (1 an hour or up 5 an hour!) I could smell (and taste!) jet fuel fumes everywhere in my immediate atmosphere. While working on the carport roof a slew of jets took off in less than an hour. The fumes were so thick I had to go back in to my condo and shut the windows-but it was no use! Toxic, smelly Jet fumes were everywhere! After that I honestly felt as if my taste and smell were affected for a week or so - I'm still not sure! Also we have a balcony that faces west and see the jets take off regularly. And we smell and hear all these planes/jets constantly. It's unbearable to sit out there sometimes for obvious reasons! Sometime they fly low and stray off their flight path.

It would be great if these 'bigger private jets' would be limited to using 'bigger airports' at least for the sake of local residents!

These jet vehicles are dishing out a of lot pollution(s).We hear and smell them regularly inside as well. Especially on pleasant days when the windows are generally open. My wife and I and our HOA are sick of hearing and smelling these 'gross polluters' every single day!! No wonder Global Warming’s an issue! Anyone that can afford it, doesn't care any way!

Description: Sunday seems to be the worst day for noise and pollution. Maybe because we all think of Sunday as a day of rest. Not around SMO!!! But it's not just Sunday. There appears to be more and larger jets landing every day. At my location, we get the noise of the jets flying over, the reverse thrust as they touch down, and the constant noise of jets awaiting their LAX clearance. It is these idling jets that are linked to air pollution, as I have observed a clear correlation with the idling jets and that horrible, choking kerosene smell. I do not enjoy living here anymore. We cannot enjoy our backyards because of noise and fumes. Nor can we enjoy uninterrupted T.V. phone calls and sleep. Add to the jet noise/air pollution, the helicopters that seem to be flying too low and creating such a screeching noise, SMO is an unwanted presence in our neighborhoods. Please, stop the jets and have the choppers obey the law. What does it take for the FAA to listen? The jet accident that takes out a whole block? The jet accident that is simply an accident waiting to happen?

Description: I live at the east end of the airport, three houses from Bundy Drive, almost directly under the runway. I was in the house with the sliding door to the patio open. It was a warm night. I became aware of the high-pitched whine of jet engines. I stepped outside to verify what I was hearing, and after about 20-30 seconds, the low rumble of jet engines as the aircraft accelerated was clearly heard. Judging by the sound level, I would say the aircraft was a bit further west on the runway than usual for a takeoff. This leads me to believe that the operators of the plane knew that they were taking off in violation of the "Airport Agreement" restriction on takeoffs after 11:00PM.

Description: Recently we have noticed propeller planes circling our neighborhood in the early evening, just about the time one might be in the backyard eating dinner. On Sunday 8/1 we were sitting in our backyard having dinner when we noticed a horrendous amount of noise coming from a single propeller plane. It's annoying, but not uncommon, to have airplane noise from planes taking off over our neighborhood. However, on Sunday night we watched and listened as a plane practiced going in repetitive circles overhead. We counted a dozen circles in the half-hour we were out there. Eventually it became so bad that we couldn't hear our own conversation and we went inside - our evening was ruined. We looked back outside about 20 minutes later and the plane was still circling. Are people having flying lessons over Venice? What can we do next time this happens? Should we call the police and file a noise complaint? Is there a way to identify the plane from the ground in order to log a complaint?

This was at 5:35 and 5:42 p.m. These planes are landing and taking off from Santa Monica Airport and they affect our quality of life in West Los Angeles, one-half mile east of the airport. Every single time a pilot chooses to fly directly over my neighborhood, rather than over industrial-use property, such as a freeway, represents a time that many, many people on the ground are upset by the CONSTANT noise emitted by one plane with, perhaps, one or two persons in it. Do you see an imbalance as to who has the rights here? I've lived in Mar Vista since 1968 and even though you present data to support the fact that single and multi-engine flight traffic is down over time, I can guarantee that you have directed your traffic over Mar Vista rather than over the much more responsible Santa Monica. How much can we take? This is ridiculous. We want our quality of life back. Stop Left Turns at Take Offs. I'm going to start a Right Turn Only on Take Off group if this keeps up. It is unfair to Mar Vista.

Description: I have lived in my house for more than 20 years, long before Santa Monica Airport became the home of large corporate jets. My house is very close to one of the landing paths.

The jets get larger and larger. The noise gets worse and worse.

I think there should be absolute limits on the size and noise as well as number of jets landing.

Most troubling is to be disturbed after 9 pm on nights before work days (Sun - Thurs) and after 11 pm on weekend nights (Fri and Sat).

I understand there are limits on night take offs, since such take offs would disturb Santa Monica residents, but no limits on landings. Landings, of course, only affect residents of Los Angeles.

This is not a situation where I moved to a neighborhood that was noisy to begin with. Nor would it have been reasonably foreseeable that Santa Monica would start allowing larger and larger jets, landing more frequently and with greater noise.

Description: I have noticed a marked increase in noise and jet fume odor this past December. It was a big disappointment, being an 8-year homeowner in this neighborhood, to notice that my tolerance level was being compromised. I will begin noting specific instances.

Location: NOise was heard at my home on Marine st. (Our home just South of National and East of the Airport.)

Plane took off at 4:25pm 12/10/03 to the West, it was extrememly loud and smelled! How much do we have to take?

Description: I was puttin away my trash cans when the plane took of to the west and the smell and noise was terrible! I had to run inside to breathe.

Time: throughout the day as early as 7AM til about 11:30 PM

Description: Jets take off at all hours of the day. I actually conduct some of my work out of my house for that I am on the phone a lot. Most of the time people think I am calling them from an airport. That aside it is just nerve wrecking when you wake up in the morning and the first thing you hear to start your day is a jet above your house. after that the sport pilots get really enthusiastic about flying their propeller planes right above venice, propbably an amazing view... I can't stop but thinking that one of these days one of them may acually land on my roof...

If I was living in or around LAX I probably wouldn't be as surprised, but this is really unacceptable. Should there be any other ways of seeking action against this please advise.

Description: Every weekend, the noise from the planes in and out of Santa Monica are really bad, going every few minutes usually. I am only writing because I heard that they are considering trying to pass a variance to allow larger planes to take off and land out of this tiny airport. I think that would be extremely unwise. The amount of traffic and size of the planes is already more than enough for such a tiny airport and it would seem both dangerous and sad to pollute such an important area of Los Angeles. The Santa Monica beaches are one of the prides of the city and should be kept clean, and safe. The amount of fuel leakage from larger planes would seem very destructive to it's overall image and the image of the city for all who enjoy one of its greatest assets!

Description: My residence is much closer to the airport at Marine Street than the location of this noise complaint. I was walking my dogs and heard noise levels of a jet take off far in excess of what I believe are the current limits. These jets are too loud, too often, and unacceptable. Your violation protocol in ineffective at controlling noise.

Description: There was a landing at the airport and the noise was so loud, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This landing involved a jet and it most definately involved reverse thrusters. The decibel limit must have been exceeded and whatever jet had landed should be fined.

Description: While trying to have a quiet pleasant lunch outside on such a beautiful day, we had to cover our mouths because of the fumes before a very loud takeoff. I called Ted Walters and noted my complaint, he said the deimal reading was only 90.5 I think that's what I heard. Maybe 93...what ever the level it's too much and too smelly!

Description: This afternoon I was outside trying to do some gardening and for over 1/2 hour I could hear the sound of an aircraft on the tarmack waiting to take off. It reved it's engines which put out noxious fumes which could be inhaled enough to make one sick and get a headache.

It continues to get worse and especially unacceptable being that when we purchased her Jets were not allowed. Frustrated and cranky!

I will really try to make the meeting. We are actually moving because of the air pollution from the jets. I got sick and tired of having to pack up my daughters and leave every afternoon when the pollution is at it's worst.

When we gave our landlord notice and told him we were leaving because of the pollution he called the airport and they told him that traffic has only increased 5% in the past year!
We are still going to be in the neighborhood but we will be north of the airport. The fumes are not quite as bad, but I want to make sure we stay on top of the issue.

Description: Tremendous noise was created by a jet taking off. I was on the telephone, inside my house, and had to ask the caller to wait as I was unable to hear them for about fifteen seconds.

Description: One of the ever-larger jets took off from SM Airport at this time. A long take-off whine followed by extremely loud jet noise as the plane took off towards the sea combined to make this by far the loudest event in my neighborhood this week, including local parties late on Saturday night. This noise event took place INSIDE my home, and was so loud it caused me to first of all turn up the TV, then get up and go outside to see if there was about to be an accident. It was not only annoying, it was disturbing, as it seemed low enought aht an accident was imminent.

Description: Another low, loud incoming jet; so that is three jets or was that four within 65 minutes.

Description: Three consecutive jets flew in at a lower level; louder than normal. Shrilling sound of jet engines. Too close for comfort!

Also, sounds of jets (thrusting of jet engines)leaving airport along with smell of jet fuel.
