The Yucatan Youth Camp

In July I spent several weeks in Yucatan, Mexico. Three of those days were spent at the Church of Christ Youth Camp. This year it was held in Dzan. The place we have it is just out of town. It's a ranch of sorts. The owner has several large hotelroom buildings. As well as a pool, several covered places to sit and have class, and his personal holdings. He has cows, goats, and fruit trees.

Well, here's a couple guys that were in my "cabin." There's Julio on the right, and his cousin, uncle or something on the left. If anybody knows his name, I'd sure appreciate an email.

We were blessed with wonderful food for the whole camp. I hear that the tamales were good. I don't care for tamales so I can't tell you from experience, but all the other meals were to die for.

We had great classes. The theme of the camp was "Spiritual Renovation." This is an afternoon sermon that Don gave about marriage. He centered it around the 5th Chapter of Ephesians.

Here's a nice portrait
of Placido. My father
took it on his last April
trip, but I thought it was
nice enough to put here
anyway.

This is at the Saturday night preaching service. We rented trucks and rode into Dzan to the local there for that service. Felipe preached. He's the guy on the left there. His son Carlos has spina bifida, and could always use prayers. He's a great kid. Before the preaching, we were blessed to hear many songs by people from different locals. The picture on the right is of the kiddie choir from Dzan. They did well.

At the end of camp we had a special presentation. There was a "radio program" from my cabin.

A skit from another cabin. The skit was about a young boy that was a gang member. He was attacked by another gang, and while in the hospital was converted to Christ. I liked their use of props. I don't know if you can tell, but in the picture on the right there, they are using a sun visor for a neck brace.

Several Group Presentations.

A presentation from the choir class that my mom directed.

And an exortation from one of the counselors.

OK, here are four of the cutest little kids in the world.
The little girl with the
microphone was at camp. During
the concert, she dedided that
she felt like singing.
So they let her. Cute!

During the camp we were blessed to watch Placido Matu's daughter be baptised. Sheila is 12.

After the camp was over we went back to the church in Yobain for the baptism of the Holy Ghost. The hand of fellowship followed.
