~Building Our House~

We found the plans that we were looking for back in 2004, but it has taken awhile to get a move on things. The prosess has been slow, but things seam to be falling into place. I'll try to keep everything up dated with new pictures and new information. Hope you enjoy! (p.s. The back ground picture was taken on the day that we chose the spot for our house)

Planning
We chose to build a victorian style house. The house is 1700 sqft (not including the basement) with three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, one 1/2 bathroom, kitchen, livingroom, dining room, "mudroom," and music room/den. It has high ceilings whitch will hopfully give it an open feelling. We hope to decorate it in an oldfasion victorian style. I'm not so great at decorating, so it will be interesting to see how it turns out. If you have any sugestions, please e-mail me and let me know. I hope to eventually have a place on this web site where people can put their thoughts.

Our First Move
The first thing that we did was build a drive way. What an awesome driveway!!!

One Year Later.......
On September 1st 2006 we chose a place to build our house. And what a beautiful place it is. Tim came out early that morning to help us figure out the best spot for house house. Since we wanted a walkout basement, it had to be located on a hill. There is a nice hill that worked just great for our plans. Our house will face the southeast corner of our property. The back porch will look out on to our large-ish pond. (at this moment our pond is taken over with lilly pads...we can't seam to kill them.) It is a lovley view. Our closest neibor will hopfully be blocked by a tree line that we plan on planting in the near futare. I think that the place we chose for our house will be just perfect.

Breaking Ground

We broke ground on September 7th. It was an exiting and long awaited day. I took several pictures of them digging our foundation. I thought that it was one of the coolest things that I've ever seen. These are some of my favorite pictures. I liked the "claws" that he used to break up the ground so it would be easyer to dig (bottom left picture). I'm not quite sure why I thought they where cool, but I did. *laugh*

Footings and Basement Walls

I'm not sure how all this is done or what exactly you're looking at in these pictures. Jesse knows a lot more about this sorta stuff then I do. I'm sure that he would love to tell you about it some time. All that I know is that this is what has to be done to get my house built, so I'm very exited for it to be happening.
Papa Dan took some wonderful pictures that I hope you'll enjoy. Thanks for the pictures Papa!
