My Surprise

by Jackie M.

Ever since I was a little girl, my dream was to have a puppy. My parents always promised me a puppy, but they never seemed to follow through. About two years ago when I was in sixth grade, my parents decided to start looking around for a puppy.

On December 11, my dad came home from work and knocked on my bedroom door. When I opened it, I saw my dad holding a little white puppy. I was so happy that I started laughing and crying at the same time. The puppy was a little girl bichon that was only three months old. She was a little scared and sick at the time because she wasn't used to my house yet. It took us a couple of days to name her, but soon we found a name that fit her well. I decided to name her "Lilly." I named her that because she is all white and soft and because it is a cute name.

Lilly is now three years old and is still as cute as ever. She is her full grown size, and she weighs fifteen pounds. Lilly loves to run around playing with kids, and she especially loves giving kisses. Lilly knows only a few tricks, but there is one favorite. Whenever I bend over to the ground and I have a scrunchie in my hair, Lilly will jump up on my back and grab it out of my hair. Then she will run from me, and it will be impossible to get her.

She loves to play games, especially tug-of-war, and to play in the snow. She really is a good dog. She was a special present to me because I always wanted a puppy, and I finally got my wish.
