Losers see the winners,
finishing the race.
They see the tickertape and
that smiling, stinging face.
They feel the empty waves of glory,
all go washing by.
Yet they continue on determined,
though only they know why.
The ancient coffee maker
gurgles and gulps as droplets of coffee
drop from its single eye like tears
after years of hard work upon its counter top prison
morning after monotonous morning
a slave cries tears of lonesome pain
yet keeps working
steadily and surely.
SUNSET
by Diane M.
The sunset
Smiles and glows
Like a litttle child
Ripping open girls
On Christmas morning
And then seeing
They got what they asked for
The sunsets sparkle just like their eyes.
A little red wagon,
Small, red, and rusty,
A childhood long forgotten.
In my backyard it sits
For years that seem forever
It is now but a faded memory.
I live in the land of chocolate cake.
Spongy, moist, melt in your mouth goodness.
Rich and creaming chocolate frosting.
I slice a piece,
Plop it on a plate,
The rich chocolate aroma,
Pulls me,
Like a magnet.
Beware once you start,
You will never stop.
The sun
flickers on the ocean
like stars in the night,
rising in the morning
bright in the sky,
hides at night
as day has passed.
The candle shines brightly
Like a star in the black filled sky
It flickers as the wind takes it on a journey through the world
It flickers when the people pass the bright shining flames
It flcikers because it is her way of showing she is excited.
THE WIND
by Andrea N.
The wind
howls like a lonely wolf in the snowy mountains
through the tired trees, and in the dark blue sky
continuing its flight
proclaiming its power
to those who may doubt it.
THE ROSE
by Jessica K.
The rose
Alone
Cries tears of pain
Longing for the sun and rain
A beautiful being born to die
No hand to hold
No heart to cry
Wasting away on a table top
Until the last pedal drops.
A SNOWFLAKE
by Kady C.
A snowflake
falling from the sky
screaming "weeeee" as
everyone walks by
whirling, twirling, by and by
"Oops! one just landed in my eye."
THE SKY
by Derek S.
With the stars and the moonlight
creating a peaceful night.
Looking under the moonlight
I see how big the sky really is.
The stars
shine
bright with glory
high in the sky
during the darkness of the night
filling us with wonderment.
The book
captures my mind,
Like a mouse in a trap,
Page by page as it sits in my lap,
Taking me to another macrocosm,
Without even leaving the walls of my home.
My contented cat
Purrs joyously
On my bed
During the day while the sun is shining
Basking in the sunšs rays
All curled up.
The flowers
dance
gracefullywith the breeze
giving us beautly and joy.
