A Recommendation for Adding
The Children of WIllesden Lane to the Curriculum

by Melissa Z. (4/04)

The Children of Willesden Lane was a very inspiring and worthwhile book to read. In the eighth grade curriculum, there is currently no non-fiction book. The Children of Willesden Lane viould be a wonderful book to fill that void in the curriculum. The writing is superb, and it was an amazing book on a subject that is not often heard about, the Kindertransport.

The Children of Willesden Lane provided a very good account of what some of the children had to go through during the Holocaust. Lisa had to overcome many hardships to get through a tough time in her life and to reach her dream of becoming a concert pianist. This is a good message to convey to teenagers in the eighth grade. Students should believe in themselves and strive to reach their dreams, no matter how impossible they may seem. The book was not very difficult to read either. The vocabulary was understandable, so anyone in the eighth grade would most likely not have a difficult time reading it.

The Children of Wllesden Lane would be the perfect book to complete the curriculum for the eighth grade. It is a brilliant book that is easy to read and has a great storyline. The story is filled with hope and insight into a subject most people have never even heard of. The book shows that if you strive to achieve your dreams, they may just come true true. The Children of Willesden Laneshould most definitely become part of the eighth grade curriculum.
