Diving

Up the cool metal steps
On top of the long board
With the water below
Among the boisterous spectators are parents.
Off the board I jump
Within seconds I have made a clean dive
into the pool
Towards the scoreboard I gaze
On it I see a perfect score
After all the training, I have succeeded
"Yes."

Skiing

At the top of the hill
Without any fear
Down they go
Along the snow
Under a bridge
Through the woods
Past the people
Against the wind
Near the end of the trail
They find themselves
At the end of the race.

Down the Path

Through the grass
Up the steps
To the beach
Onto the sand
Into the water
Past your waist
Beneath the surface
Dive down deep
Then up again
To ride the waves.

Rock Climbing

Onto the rock
Up the arete
Over the overhang
Around the traverse
Making it to the top!!

Swimming

To the swimming pool
Among my competitors
Over the edge
Until the whistle blows
SPLASH!
Under the water
Into the race
Between the lane lines
At a fast pace
Against all odds
To win first place
Across the pool
Towards the finish
Up out of the pool
After it's over
Over to the table
To claim my blue ribbon.

Baseball

Out of the dugout
Onto the field
To the positions
Under the lights
With the team
In the night air,
Below the stars and the moon,
Ahead two runs
After the seventh
Past the ninth
The game has ended
Inside the car going home
With a grin across my face,
For we are the champions!!!!

Ice Skating

In my sharpened skates
By the crowd
Beneath the lights
Behind my partner
Up, I twirl
Around and around
Into the winner's circle

During the competition
Down someone goes
Along the wall
After her, people run
Through the doors they rush

Between the routines I practice
Over and over in my head
Except for the butterflies in my stomach,
I am ready
From their seats the audience cheers
Around my neck, hangs the medal
YES!

Hockey

Over center ice
Past the second blue line
At the circles he shoots the puck
In the net

Basketball

Onto the vast court
Around two all-star players
Without hesitation
To the top of the key
In the air went the ball
Off the backboard
In the net..... we won the championship!!!!
