Objects Precious to Us

My Camera

Hidden under the Christmas tree between two big boxes.
Square like a baby's toy block.
Light blue like the azure of the sky.
Captures the most memorable moments.
Has a sharp "eye" like my mother.
Like my dad's great personality, some pictures come out funny.
Delicate, like all of our feelings.
Like me, the photos aren't always perfect.
The flash, how fast the years go by.
Memories never forgotten.
Symbolizing laughter and good times.
My camera, my joy.

A Greek Treasure

From the busy streets of Athens,
A mix of new and old,
It flew across the Atlantic.
Now it sits upon my shelf.

The shape of a candy dish,
Smooth like porcelain china.
Golden paint that gives it texture.
Depicting a golden goddess.

An ancient lock.
Decode the signs to look inside.
A meticulus perfectionist like me.
Short like my mom.
Sturdy like my dad.
Beautiful on its own.

Portraying historical Greek artwork.
Triggering the intuitive senses.
Wishing to visit the land of its origin.
A Greek treasure.

My MTOC Medal

Tears were streaming down my face,
The medal hung around my neck,
The bittersweetness of both the win and the loss,
A season filled with victories and defeat in the state final game.

Now, hanging above my bed,
The red, white, and blue ribbon looped around a peg,
MTOC and a soccer ball engraved on the face
Of the slightly tarnished silver.

Representing a year of hard work and dedication,
Wins and losses, laughter and tears,
Symbolizing teamwork, hours of practice, friendship, memories,
The title 'Second Place in the State'
Proves how hard we worked to be the best.
My MTOC Medal.

My Good Luck Charm

From the shores of Brazil
Given to me by my grandmother,
A rough pink rock with one flat side,
A salty and exhilarating smell,

From above,
an exploding volcano,
From a distance,
a pink golf ball

Like me:
it loves pink,
Like my mom:
unbreakable,
Like my dad:
rough around the edges but it has a soft side,

My good luck charm,
Always bringing me good fortune.
My good luck charm
Rose Quartz.
