I have read the first two books, and I can't wait until I have the third so I can plunge once more into a secret land for witches and wizards where they are brewing up a potion or playing a rousing game of Quidditch. But any good hero has a nemesis, and Harry's will not seem to leave him alone. Their rival is also an enthralling part of the story.
Everyone has their favorites, and mine happens to be JK Rowling.
One of the most recent books I've read by her is Let Me Call You Sweetheart. This book shows Clark's unique style of writing. Just when you think you know 'who-done-it', the book takes a twisting turn. Smart and cunning, Clark alway ends her tales with a shocker. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mystifying novels, eerie suspects, and a mind-boggling conclusion.
Roald Dahl
My favorite author is Roald Dahl. He specializes in humor, so if you want a book that is short and funny you should pick up one of his books. Some of my favorites include Matilda, Hitches, Fantastic, Mr. Fox, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Those are just a few of his titles. I strongly urge you to read one of his books especially if you need a good laugh. Dahl writes books for children of all ages. So next time you go to the library take a look at Dahl's books, you will enjoy them. I did.
Have A Good Cry
Do you ever get so into a book that you feel like you're part of the story? Well, this is how I feel every time I pick up a novel by the author Lurlene McDaniel. Ms McDaniel writes realistic fiction books about children and teenagers who have life-altering diseases. There are different characters in each book, and this author really knows how to capture the interest of the reader. You also get a good amount of knowledge about different medical problems. There is almost always a great sense of sadness in her books. But if you are like me and you like to have a nice long cry once in a while, I think you should read a book by Lurlene McDaniel. Some of her books include, Six Months to Live, Goodbye Doesn't Mean Forever, and The Legacy, Making Wishes Come True.So pick up a book by Lurlene McDaniel today.
My Favorite Author
I would have to say my favorite author is Mary Higgins Clark. I love her stories because they are mysteries and they have the best plots. The plots are usually about kidnappings and murders. Some Mary Higgins Clark books are about weird, crazy people which make the books even more interesting.
One story that will really keeps you in suspense is Where Are the Children? If you're looking for a good book, any novel by Mary Higgins Clark is great.
William Sleator
Whenever I go into a bookstore, I head straight to the science fiction section to check out the new books by my favorite author, William Sleator. He is an excellent science fiction writer whose books are filled with exciting, scientific adventures. Of all his books that I've read, there hasn't been one that I haven't liked.
Once you start reading one of his novels, like The Duplicate, Singularity, Interstellar Pig, or Oddballs; you won't be able to put it down.
So if you're the kind of person who likes a good sci-fi thriller, then I insist that you try a novel by William Sleator.
Jack London
My all time favorite author is Jack London. I enjoy his books because he writes outdoor adventure stories. He also throws in some unknown curve to keep you on the edge of your seat. Some of his books and short stories include The Call of the Wild and "To Build a Fire." For those of you who like adventure, I encourage you to read some of his work. Jack London is a must read author.
Agatha Christie
My favorite author is Agatha Christie who writes in the mystery genre. I like the Poirot series myself. Poirot is a chubby little man with a handlebar moustache. Most of the stories take place in England. My favorite story is the Chocolate Box. Poirot goes to a dinner party. The next day, the host of the party dies. Found on his desk was a box of cholates. The box had a green lid and a pink bottom. Could the killer have switched the real chocolates with the poisoned ones? To find out, you'll have to read it.
Edgar Allan Poe
My all-time favorite author is Edgar Allen Poe. He wrote short stories, such as "The Pit and the Pendulum" and "The Telltale Heart." All of his stories tend to be quite strange, and many of them involve murder and horror.
My favorite story by Edgar Allan Poe is " The Black Cat" , which has to do with a cat inadvertently exposing his master as a murderer. In my opinion, this story is his most gruesome piece.
If you enjoy reading stories that are horrifying and hair-raising, be assured that you'll love all of Poe's twisted stories. I guarantee each and every one will chill you to the bone.
Ann Rice
My mother has always loved to read. When I was little, every night we would snuggle up in bed, and she would read me scary Ann Rice novels.
When I was old enough to go to kindergarten, I already had been taught my numbers and colors, so my mother wanted me to learn to read and to go to first grade. I instantly learned to read and have always loved it. My favorite author is Ann Rice probably because of my mother's influence.
Some of her books such as The Witching Hour , or Interview With a Vampire are amazingly scary, interesting, and thrilling books. They all seem to have a wonderful story line and a touch of that Ann Rice magic which transforms a book into a land you enter whenever you pick up the book. I think she captures the reader's attention like no other author. Her books keep you wanting more so you can't put them down.
There's only one thing. . . you have to be a little more mature to read her novels because her novels are extremely long. If you can handle them and keep up with them, then you will experience an almost real life story.
Lurlene McDaniel
Do you enjoy a sad, depressing book that makes yow feel fortunate? Well, I have an extraordinary author for you to read. Her name is Lurlene McDaniel. Her books focus on teenagers with deadly diseases such as leukemia and various kinds of cancer. Other books of McDaniel's, such as One Last Wish, concentrate on children who desperately need a transplant. In many of her stories, the main character meets a friend in the hospital. The companion usually has a common illness. These books are depressing in parts, but make you feel fortunate when you read what these children go through. Some other books by Lurlene McDaniel are Angels Watching Over Me, Don't Die My Love, Six Months To Live, and No Time To Cry. Another thing that is enjoyable about her novels is that most of the books have sequels. Lurlene McDaniel is a very talented writer and I highly recommend her novels.
Mary Higgins-Clark
I would have to say that my favorite author of all time is Mary Higgins-Clark. She writes mystery novels. I have read almost all of them except for three. I am in the middle of one right now. In my opinion, the best one of her novels so far has been Silent Night. It is one of her shorter ones, but it's still over two hundred pages. It was so good that I read it in two days. Two other splendid novels that she has written are Where Are The Children? and I'll Be Seeing You.
You should definitely read a book by Mary Higgins-Clark. If you don't think you particularly like mysteries, check one out anyway and, who knows, it might just turn out that you really do like mysteries. Come on, try it. Reading a book won't kill you; it will enhance you. So read one of her novels as soon as possible. I can almost guarantee that her books will impress you.
Bruce Coville
My favorite author is Bruce Coville. I enjoy his writing because it is sci-fi, comedy, and mystery all in one. Two of his books are Mu Teacher Is An Alien and My teacher Fried My Brains. He has written other books, too. His writing seems to capture my interest. I am hooked on reading his books. I insist that if you like sci fi, comedy, and mystery, that you read one of Bruce Coville's books.
Agatha Christie
My favorite author is Agatha Christie. Why you ask? Well, I'm the type of person who from time to time loves a good murder mystery. If you are a person who likes murder mysteries, the book you should read is Agatha Christie's Death Comes As the End. It's a leave-you-in-suspense and not quite, but almost, a bone-chilling book.
