A Gift from the Heart

The most precious gift that I have ever received is one from the heart. This gift isn't a material object; it is more than that. The precious gift of friendship, understanding, encouragement, and the sense of a connection between two people is the most valuable gift that I could ask for. It was given to me by one of my teachers, Mr. Bleakney. He was my guidance counselor for three years as well as my track coach for my last year at South Intermediate School. I treasure this gift so greatly because it is so hard to come by these days, especially coming from a teacher. At least, that's what I used to think.

Mr. Bleakney has given me so much to turn to that I couldn't pinpoint just one gift which he has given me. He has been there to lend me a helping hand whenever I needed one. He has helped me express the fire in my heart, especially when it comes to sports. He always seems to know the right things to say at the right moments. Whenever I needed someone to talk to, he was always there for me. He always encouraged me to a certain point to which I knew that disappointment was unnecessary unless I hadn't put forth my best effort. I greatly appreciate all these gifts. Mr. Bleakney has obviously given me many gifts to rely on. However, I can sum them all up in just one. He has given me the gift to believe in a friend And to me, that is the most precious gift of all.
