The Book Beginnings

Little did I know that when I started reading with my dad when I was very little that my love for books would continue until this very day. I realized that as I read, I would enter a different world. My dad was the one who first introduced me to this world. Every night before I went to bed, my dad would read to me. Even before I knew what the words meant, I could follow along and understand the pictures. The brilliantly colored illustrations leapt off the page as I listened and processed the words through my head.

When I was about three years old, I finally learned how to read. As we did every night, my dad and I would still read although now I read some of the books myself. At first, it was a page or two at a time, which soon turned into chapters. The black words stood out against the white pages and just seemed to flow. Soon, I started reading books by myself; I didn't need my dad's help anymore. Now, I'm reading approximately one book a week. For that, the one person to thank would be my dad for the reason that he introduced the power of reading to me. I can enter the world of books where my imagination is limitless. My dad has shown me how truly magical a books can be, and for that, I am so fortunate. He inspired me to sit down and read a good book. Nowadays, I spend the majority of my free time reading and rereading a multitude of books. My dad has helped me uncover the true meaning of my favorite quote, "Books fall open, you fall in."
