The connectedness of things always amazes me. The longer I live the
more I see how each of us is connected, not only to one another, but to all life and to the continuum of life. We matter.
What we do matters. The choices we make affect not only the paths of our lives, but the lives of others, our surroundings,
and the course of the entire planet.
Quote on puzzle piece:
We did not weave the web of life, we are but a strand in it.
(Chief Seattle)

Quote on this page:
We can do no great things, only small things with great love.

Journaling continues on this page:
I try to remember - though I often forget - that even small things,
perhaps especially small things, can change the world. If I am kind to a store clerk, if I allow another driver to go
first, if I do not return evil but instead am gentle, it not only changes me, it changes everything. Perhaps that clerk
is living in despair and my kindness gives her hope. Perhaps that driver is hurrying home, and by getting to dinner
on time, he gives his marriage another chance. Perhaps my gentleness in response to meanness will influence a child
to examine other ways of communicating rather than hitting. Each of these small acts may cause small change, and many
small changes alter the course of even a huge ocean liner.
