Jenkins Helms,
Son of Archibald and Elander Helms
Of Mecklenburg County NC and TN

When Archibald Helms made the move to Arkansas, Lawrence Co. in the late 1840's, Jenkins made the move with the family. He appeared on the 185l tax list and then I could find nothing more on him. Apparently he returned to TN shortly after 185l, married a Jane Helms and continued to live in Putnam Co. TN. He appeared in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 TN Census and had seven daughters. They then lived in an area called Buffalo Valley.

Since I wrote this I found Jenkins getting married in Butler Co. KY on 12-27-1855 to Laura "Jane" Lafferty. I couldn't figure out where Jenkins was for 9 yrs. Now We know! Kentucky !
