David and Nancy Brown Helms
David Helms was born in Tennessee, the son of Wyatt and Elizabeth Helms was a farmer, an ordained Baptist Minister and the husband of Nancy Brown Helms, daughter of Powell and Sarah Brown.
They spent much of their early child rearing
years in Sharp, Co. AR. Their later years were lived in Lawrence Co. Powhatan
Township. David fought in the Civil War, Shavers Infantry. He died January
13, 1896 and is buried in Powhatan Cemetery. Nancy died after 1909 and
is buried next to her husband, but has no marker. We do have a picture
of Nancy Brown Helms with her two daughters, Sally Helms Marchbanks and
Mollie Helms White and their children.
