Born in Roseburg, Oregon, USA, I have been composing since age 11. My works have been programmed at such events as the National Association for Music Education (MENC) Eastern Regional Conference, the California Association for Music Education (CMEA) Conference, and the Harford County, Maryland All-County Band. I completed the Master of Music program at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in 2005, having studied composition under Robert Sirota and music theory pedagogy under Kip Wile. Earlier composition training took place with Phillip Keveren and Brad Nelson at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California, where I received the BA in music theory and composition in 2000. I have fulfilled commissions for PLNU and numerous other organizations and individuals. Awards and honors include Second Prize in the inaugural Frank Ticheli Composition Contest sponsored by Manhattan Beach Music (2006, Beginning Band Division, for Repercussions); Third Prize in the Penfield Music Commission Project Composition Contest (2003, for Lighthouse Overture); annual ASCAP Standard Awards for concert music since 2002; and the Keith and Betty Pagan Outstanding Music Student Award. Currently I reside with my wife Elinor in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Professional societies of which I am a member are ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers), AMC (the American Music Center), and CFAMC (the Christian Fellowship of Art Music Composers). All the music posted on this site is my own work. |
