It's 1 p.m. and I still haven't been in to work yet.
Of course, I just worked two 14-hour days in a row, so I think I deserve a little break. And I've been busy all morning getting ready for my trip back home (I leave tonight). I began this morning by packing and answering a bunch of e-mail. Then I had to go to the drugstore and buy deodorant because I ran out and bottled water for the plane, and on the way I stopped off at a bookstore to get some stuff to read on the trip. I ended up buying two memoirs: Martin Amis's new book and George Stephanopoulous's because it was on sale and I also bought Tom Wolfe's The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test because I'd started reading it at Alvin's. He keeps a copy of the Wolfe book on the nightstand next to his bed and it's what I always read to occupy myself when he goes outside to have a cigarette. Fortunately, Alvin doesn't smoke much, and when he does, he does it very quickly, so I haven't made much progress with the book. Now that I have my own copy, perhaps this will change.
Speaking of Alvin, we seem to have straightened out our differences, at least for now. There are still some fundamental unresolved problems there, but at least we're getting along.
I've also spent some time pissing people off with my various forum posts this morning, causing one person to liken me to Hitler, and Gus's apparently insane girlfriend to make this rather threatening comment: "And if you knew what was best for you, you dorky little rat testing bitch, you would take a break from this forum and worry about your own life...Yes my intention has changed and I do mean you harm." Hmmm...
Anyway, the last couple of days have not been much fun at all. I've been working really hard trying to finish up my rotation by finally doing all the unfun tedious crap I'd been putting off as long as possible. I promise to write more when I get home, though.
