I just got home from IKEA. I went there to buy a bookcase and a frame. I came home with 2 colored glass serving bowls, 2 packages of patterned paper napkins, and a tablecloth, which clashes with both my kitchen curtains and the new napkins. This is pretty much what always happens to me when I go to IKEA. At least it's all cheap.
I've had a very productive Saturday. I woke up, and defrosted my freezer for the first time in months. Unfortunately, while melting the built-up ice with my hairdryer, I accidentally also melted some of the plastic around the freezer. It doesn't affect the functionality of the freezer, but it's noticeable. I also cleaned the kitchen, took a bag of old clothes to Goodwill, went to the record store and to two grocery stores, and, of course, picked up all that stuff I don't really need at IKEA.
(Just went in the kitchen to fetch a glass of water. Damn, that new tablecloth is cute!)
To be really productive, I ought to go into the lab for a while now. I don't think I'm going out tonight. I've been out the last two nights. And I hate going out on Saturdays. Last night, I went to the Symphony, and the night before went out dancing with Jin-Sae and his roommate. I foresee a lot of dancing in my future, since my favorite local DJ just got a semi-regular gig at a club within walking distance of my house, which is where we went on Thursday.
Thursday was fun, the music was really good, but I don't think Jin-Sae and his roommate were too into it. But at least Jin-Sae's roommate is easily entertained. Although he's had a serious girlfriend for more than a year now, he is an incorrigible flirt. He is constantly on the prowl. When we got there, the place was nearly empty, but he quickly started talking to the girl sitting next to us, even though she was there with another guy. When she got up and walked away, he started flirting with the bartender, even though both he and Jin-Sae were too cheap to actually buy any drinks.
After the bartender went to go speak to actual paying customers, he was approached by one of those cigarette and candy girls who go from bar to bar selling cigarettes and candy and flowers and stuff. She asked him if he wanted to buy a flower. "Can I buy one for you?" he asked. She shrugged and said, coldly, "well, you can just give me $6 if you want."
His tenacity is really quite impressive.
And I guess I will go in to lab now, after all.
