Statement

A short bio and statement from Jenny Dryw:

My artistic experience started in the Great City of Chicago, with all its magnificent architecture, diverse landscapes and creative vibrations. These experiences flourished with exposure through visits to the Chicago Museums, neighborhood walks, scrutinazation of the downtown structures both inside and out. Added to all the studies of man made structures and gardens were the inspired viewing of the plein air artists that frequented the lake shore harbors during the summer months

My thirst for the visual soul of nature, people, and environments was fed through travels in this great country and around the globe. These adventures added deep layers of invigorating and colorful experiences, fine-tuning my artistic talents.

I express from the inside to the outside: My soul energies, emanating to the surface and those energies manifesting in the form of art. I express also from the outside to the inside: I view the beauty and structures around me and process those encounters within my system, to manifest that knowledge into art. With every painting, the process is a new adventure. I work towards a goal that is manifested as an "awe" state during the creative process. Sometimes it is small and sometimes it is quite exhilarating. At that point, I know I am on the right track and that I have been able to successfully tap into that inside source. I keep working a piece from different angles, with a mixture of textures, values, color, ideas and tools until I reach that state. The result is a work that is alive, depicts movement/change and has melody.

My art exists to impart experiences in a way, which words cannot. It embodies and amplifies mind and feeling, the unexplainable state of human experience. Every new painting launches an outward expression of joy and freedom. It is my way of communicating my diverse and unique spirit, thus making each painting also diverse and unique. All of life's adventures continue to add the passion it takes to create fine art. Therefore, I am grateful to be both a witness and an actor on this stage and to be able to express the words unspoken through this artistic expression.
