After taking First Place in the coveted NATS 2008
Artist Award Competition in Nashville, Tennessee,
Boston-based soprano Courtney Huffman made her
New York solo recital debut with pianist Tali Tadmor
at Carnegie Hall in June 2009. About Courtney's
appearance as Motezuma's daughter Teutile in Long
Beach Opera's U.S. Premiere of Vivaldi's Motezuma,
Mark Swed wrote in the Los Angeles Times, "Teutile brilliantly
sung by a young soprano, Courtney Huffman, just entering the
professional arena, is treated as a supercilious young starlet ... She
sings and steals the stage ... I hope opera talent scouts were on
hand..." Courtney holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Master of Music from the USC
Thornton School.
Israeli-born pianist Tali Tadmor earned a Doctorate
in Keyboard Collaborative Arts at USC. Recent
concerts include the USC Thornton Symphony, USC
Contemporary Music Ensemble at Disney Hall, and
the Eric Whitacre Choral Invitational in China's
Forbidden City. Most recently, Ms. Tadmor toured
Italy with the Azusa Pacific University Choir,
performed a chamber music recital with members of the
Los Angeles Philharmonic, and served as Music Director for LA
Opera's community outreach production, The Marriage of Figueroa.
Ms. Tadmor is a faculty member of CalArts' Herb Alpert School of
Music.

MAYUMI KANAGAWA violin
and
PHILLIP GOLUB piano
An EMMI music major at the Crossroads School,
Japanese-born violinist Mayumi Kanagawa came to
Los Angeles in 2007 to study with Robert Lipsett.
She won top prizes in the Connecticut International
String Competition and the Corpus Christi
International Competition. Mayumi has appeared as a
soloist with the New West Symphony and the Los
Angeles Chamber Orchestra.
Pianist Phillip Golub, who attends the Crossroads
School, divides his time between classical and jazz, as
both a performer and composer. In April of 2008,
Phillip won the Los Angeles Music Center's prized
Spotlight Award. He won the 2009 and 2010 ASCAP
Young Jazz Composers Award, the 2010 ASCAP
Morton Gould Award for classical composition, two
2009 Downbeat Magazine Student Awards, and a 2009 Dolo Coker
Scholarship Award.

The Venue
The Classical Music Series of Live At The Lounge in Hermosa
Beach is a new concept for Southern California. New Yorkers have
embraced the concept with great enthusiasm at Le Poisson Rouge in
Greenwich Village. The weekly Classical Music Series at Live At
The Lounge harkens back to music-halls in the time of Mozart and
Beethoven, where classical music was enjoyed in a fun, informal
setting. Feel free to applaud between movements whenever you're
inspired to do so. Writer and critic Laurence Vittes hosts the
evening and provides expert commentary on the artists and pieces.
Read the EasyReader article "Classical Gas: Yana Reznik brings
concert hall musicians to Hermosa Beach" by clicking here.
Thanks to Mike Lacey, the forward-looking founder and President
of the famed Comedy and Magic Club (where Jay Leno performs
every Sunday evening), Southern California now has a new weekly
classical music series where premier established and rising young
performers can be enjoyed in an attractive and intimate club setting.
Enjoy classical music in a listening-room setting (not background
music) accompanied by fine dinners (optional) and/or drinks.
Live At The Lounge (adjoining The Comedy & Magic Club) is a
beautiful 90-person theater that serves dinner expertly prepared
from the freshest ingredients available in Southern California before
and during all performances. Arrive early and enjoy a delicious
dinner with friends and make new ones. Stay after and socialize
with the artists.
